Club History
Inspired of the Rotary International movement, some illustrious personalities in and around Haripad join together and decided to bring a unit of Rotary in Haripad. Accordingly Rtn. PHF M.Ramaswamy Iyer the district Governor, Rotary District 3210 appointed Rtn. PP. Sunny John ( President 84-85, Rotary Club Alappuzha) as his Governor’s Group Representative (GSR) to form a Rotary club at Haripad. Rtn. Sunny John came to Haripad and contacted some philanthropists and initiated the formation of Rotary Club at Haripad. On 16th June 1989 Haripad club obtained the Charter No:26529. The Charter was presented by Rtn. PHF PDG M. Ramaswamy Iyer. In the year 2007-08 this district 3210 was bifurcated into 3211 and 3212 and now the club is under Rotary District 3211.

The club territory includes the famous Sri Muruga Temple, which is the second largest in south India, the Mannarasala Naga Raja temple ( the temple of snake deities) being the most popular in Kerala, 600 year old St. George Orthodox Church, Cheppad, Thrikkunnapuzha Beach, a place which is very famous for after death rituals on the day of “Karkidaka Vavu”.
The club territory constitutes a part of the Revenue taluk of Karthikappaly, of which the head quarters is Haripad.
Haripad popularly known as the “Temple City” is also famous for its cultural heritage. In and around Haripad there are 12 snake boats out of 18 all over Kerala which is a unique feature in the world.
Another main feature of Haripad which attracts even the foreigners is the Payippad Jalolsavam, a three-day water festival conducted on the nearby Payippad Lake. It is believed the current idol of Lord Subrahmanya was brought from Kandalloor with escort of snake boats and vallasadya. Payippad Jalolsavam is conducted to renew this memory. The north zone of the club Kuttanad is blessed with its wide spread paddy fields and wonderful back waters.

Club Flag
The famous Haripad Subrhamania temple is a pinnacle of glory in our area. Snake boat represents the communal harmony and cultural heritage. The club flag comprises the combination of both.
